writing poetry together last summer at the Children’s Peace Theatre. Abuse: Survival Stories will be there again on August 17th this year. if you have been meaning to attend one of our events, let it be this one. it will be one to remember.
Abuse: Survival Stories is a nonprofit event series created in order to provide a platform for men and women who have experienced abuse to share their stories and help shatter the silence on which abuse thrives. events are attended by survivors and supporters alike and consist of raw survival testimonials, powerful spoken word performances, and creative group exercises. Abuse: Survival Stories was created not in the name of the war against abuse, but in the name of peace and healing for all.

forgive me if i say this every time but last night was one of our most powerful events yet. it was a small, intimate gathering and it seemed that those who came out truly needed to be there. several people spontaneously came forward with tears in their eyes and courage in their hearts and claimed their survivalhood. amazing and inspiring.
thank you to everyone who was there and helped create a space where people felt safe enough to share their most painful stories.
